Tutoring For Math: How to Make the Most of Your Time With Your Child

Tutoring For Math: How to Make the Most of Your Time With Your ChildTutoring for math is very important, especially for those students who cannot actually write their own books, but who need extra help with math. You can't teach someone without giving them enough practice. At the same time, you cannot be prepared to teach someone if you are not taught how to do it. Teaching math requires patience and a good sense of humor, but if you have these things in your heart, then there is no doubt that you will succeed. When you first enter a classroom, you will see lots of people doing several different things at once. This is because some students have trouble focusing and they won't learn if they keep on trying to juggle too many things at once. However, students who are naturally organized will be able to concentrate on one task at a time and when you combine that with a sense of humor, you will get the best results. Many students find it difficult to learn math because they keep on looking for something that would help them excel in math. They believe that their achievements in math will be measured by how fast they can complete homework assignments, which will be graded according to the times they have spent on each homework assignment. However, a well-organized student is able to complete all the grade books by the deadline, which will cause you to think that he has been working really hard. However, that student does not know how to use the grading system and how to grade the homework assignments correctly. He thinks that grades are just a gift that comes from God. While there are those students who have a high GPA, there are also those who do not. When you take a look at the grade books of a student who is able to focus properly and is able to grade his assignments accurately, you will notice that the amount of time he spends on the assignment is way less than that of a student who is struggling with his learning skills. His grades are also very high because the as signment was not too difficult. You should understand the reason why a high GPA is very important.People who have high GPAs will be able to handle any homework assignment because they will know how to research the material and how to grade the grade books in a proper manner. That is the reason why tutoring for math is extremely important. If a student is going to graduate from high school, then he should have a good GPA and at the same time, he should be able to learn the fundamentals of math in a short period of time.If your child does not have a good grasp of math, then you can either let him learn the basics of math or you can help him get ready for the SAT and other examinations. This is where tutoring for math will come in handy. It will allow your child to master the basics of math and to make sure that he does not fail in the exam because of the basic knowledge that he already has. This will save you from having to waste your time and money on retakes for a certain number of years.

Life for Women in the UAE

Life for Women in the UAE Teach Away has successfully placed hundreds of female teachers in schools across the UAE over the past 10 years. Although our candidates are always excited to teach in the UAE, many do have concerns about safety and cultural differences in this diverse Middle Eastern region. In reality, the UAE is often considered the safest region of the Middle East and is home to thriving expat communities, drawn to its unrivalled career opportunities and laid back lifestyle. The aim of this post is to give female teachers hoping to work in the UAE an insight into what to expect, and to dispel some of the common myths surrounding life in this incredible region of the world. How safe is the UAE for women? The UAE is a safe, peaceful, and very welcoming region in the Middle East. In fact, it has some of the lowest crime rates in the world. Violence or harassment towards tourists or foreign residents is highly unusual. In recent years, there have been several high profile cases of women being attacked an d then blamed, or even prosecuted, for their own assault. Just like back home, such incidents are very rare. Dangerous situations can often be avoided by being responsible about your personal safety and being aware of what is and isn’t acceptable behaviour. As one of the richest states in the world, the quality of life and general living standards are exceptional in the UAE, for both men and women. There are no rules restricting women on where they can go or what they can do, although men and women are expected to take part in some activities separately, such as schooling and prayer. Locals are extremely friendly and have a reputation for showing warm hospitality towards expats.Rules on dressThe biggest misconception about the UAE is the belief that women need to cover themselves in a headdress or long veil at all times. The UAE is a liberal Muslim nation, and although many religious sites, such as mosques and temples, will require you to cover your hair in order to enter, this is not necessary in most public spaces, events, malls, restaurants or bars. Dubai City is the most relaxed about dress and it is considered acceptable to wear shorts and tank tops around the city, and swimwear revealing the arms and legs on the beach or at a communal pool. You will be expected to dress modestly in the classroom and in public. This means keeping your shoulders and knees covered, and in some places, your wrists and ankles too. Although the weather will make you desperate to reach for your cami tops and short summer dresses, these are generally no nos, unfortunately. Although these rules are hardly enforced, they should be adhered to out of cultural respect. Dressing inappropriately is also likely to attract negative attention.Rules on relationshipsThe UAE is a family-orientated country where husbands and wives are actively encouraged to enjoy each others’ company and spend time with their children. It’s true that it is illegal to live or stay with a non-related member of the opposite sex, if you’re not married or related through marriage. Although the police rarely take action to enforce this, it is always best to fully observe local laws and customs to avoid issues. If you’re a single lady, dating is definitely possible and fairly accessible in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi, although there are some considerations to be taken into account. Public displays of affection such as kissing or hugging are frowned upon and in some suburban towns, locals consider it suspicious if a woman is in the company of an unrelated male who is also not her husband.Going outSingle women and groups of women are welcome to socialize everywhere. The cities in Abu Dhabi and Dubai have lively nightlife scenes, with plenty of venue choices from relaxed pubs to luxury champagne lounges. You’ll also find some of the world’s most extravagant restaurants here. The Islamic faith does not permit the consumption of alcohol, but tourism has resulted in beer, wines and spirits b eing widely available. Similarly to most countries, you can drink in licensed clubs or bars and in your own home, but never in public as it’s illegal. The beautiful, sunny climate enjoyed by the UAE makes it an excellent location to take advantage of the outdoors all year round. There are no shortages of social sports clubs, including everything from tennis, to horse-riding to ice-skating (yes, ice-skating), which are great places to make friends while keeping fit. It’s also traditional for women in the UAE to socialize without men over an activity such as arts, crafts or cookery classes, which are all excellent ways to meet and connect with both expats and locals.Living arrangementsAlmost all of the teaching programs Teach Away recruit on behalf of in the UAE offer comfortable private accommodation as part of the employment package. It is perfectly safe for women to live alone and apartments provided are nearly always located in a secure, highly-maintained, expat district. There may be the option to share accommodation with a same-sex housemate after your arrival, if you would prefer.Teach Away’s top tips for women moving to the UAE:Chat with someone who is already living and teaching abroad in the UAE to find out about their experiences. If you don’t know anyone directly, online forums such as the Teach Away discussion boards are good places to connect with people for information and advice.Invest in a new wardrobe! Do your research on the expectations of the area you’ll be living in and start picking up clothes which cover your shoulders and knees. Light coloured, loose fitting shirts, kimono or kaftan style tops and maxi dresses are great options.Prepare a list of emergency and essential contacts for when you arrive, for example, for medical care, your national embassy and your employer, as well as the details for your bank, doctor and relatives back home.

After all, conventional courses usually only cover common, basic slang and often shy away from more colorful words and expressions altogether.Theres no doubt that slang is pervasive in any language, and its possible you havent learned  some of the more provocative terms native speakers might use.Not only that, but as a language learner, youll have to keep the variations within your target language straight. Luckily, there ar e plenty of great resources out there to keep your vocabulary up-to-date. Here are 30 books and websites that make learning slang a piece of cake! Why Focus on Slang?Slang is a type of informal language you wont typically find in a textbook but is absolutely vital to clear communication. So while it may not be the first area of language you study, you should jump into it relatively quickly. The primary reason to learn slang is that its overwhelmingly common. In any culture, there are an abundance of slang words and more being added periodically. If youre studying English and youre not keeping up, terms like throw shade or on fleek will go right over your head!  Therefore, if you ignore it, youre ignoring a significant part of your target languages vocabulary.Additionally, using slang can make you sound like a local. A lot of native speakers expect non-native speakers to sound unnatural due to their strict adherence to what theyve learned from conventional textbooks. Using slang can set you apart and show youre so much more than a common language student. Finally, slang is often difficult to understand if you havent studied it.  If you dont make it part of your learning routine, you might not be able to figure out what these words mean based on context alone, and your fluency will suffer. Youre also more likely to miss some important parts of a conversation. The Best Resources to Learn Slang in Different LanguagesIts important to note that slang is highly regional, so not all slang will be used in every place that speaks the language. If youre targeting a particular region, you might try looking for slang from that specific region. Here are some groovy resources for learning slang from popular languages. And for help in all these languages, check out FluentU! Networking Tips For Extroverts

Networking Tips For Extroverts http://i.huffpost.com In this article, a list of networking tips for extroverts will be presented. Use them at your own disposal. These tips are not the only way to network as an extrovert, they are just helpful ways to improve yourself. Everyone could use improvement whether they admit it or not. You could be amazed with how these tips could help you get your next job or internship. 1. 60/40 Rule: Just like going in for a first kiss has the 90/10 rule, extroverts have a 60/40 rule. This rule simply states that you as the extrovert listen 60 percent of the time and then talk the other 40. You don’t want to seem like you are over-talking or not even listening to what the other person is saying. If you speak too much at once, the other person will think it is just a one-sided conversation and that you aren’t even interested in what they have to say let alone what they have to offer you. 2. Speak Thoughtfully: Extroverts have a description of having great communication skills because they love to talk and have conversations, but don’t be too confident when speaking and make sure to really understand the words you want to say next. Don’t just go off spewing random things that are not prevalent to the conversation or saying too much at once. 3. Comfortable Pauses: Extroverts are used to filling voids in conversations with more words. Speaking too much will be one of the main factors that will hold an extrovert back. Make sure to accept conversation lulls. These lulls do not mean that the other person thinks you are boring; it just means they are thinking of something else to say or another way to jump back into the conversation. 4. Spotlight Sharing: You may be in a conversation with more than one person at certain times, so don’t over-share or over-speak. Doing these things could lead to you hogging the floor and not giving others a chance to share their ideas and thoughts. We all know you have so much to say and you could think you have so much you could bring to the company, but don’t take charge of the whole conversation and push others out. You won’t look good to anyone if that’s the case. 5. Body Language and Tone: Be aware of these factors each and every time you network. Maintaining eye contact to body language, to the way you raise and lower your voice: all of these are important tools to anyone networking. For extroverts exclusively, speaking in a loud and boisterous voice can lead to others thinking you are overly friendly and trying way too hard. You can come off as fake even if you aren’t trying to portray that at all. Make sure that you keep a neutral tone; even if something makes you excited, show it with your body language and eye contact. 6. Stay Focused: I know it is hard to not get distracted when speaking with someone. Unless the conversation really interests you, you may go off into la-la land and forget everything the person is saying. Don’t half-listen though; remain engaged. The other person will know if you are only giving them half of your attention and they will not like it very much. Make sure that you are giving that person your undivided attention because if not, they could network to the next person and speak about your horrid listening skills, which could automatically give you a bad reputation already. http://morganconsulting.com Whether you are an extrovert or an introvert you need to hone in on good tips for networking in general. Learn what works for you and what gets you further ahead to the places you want to go. An overall tip is to be yourself. People can always tell when you are faking and not being true to yourself. The right people will come into your life and network with you; you will find the right fit for you.

Ear Training Exercises Chords Scales

Ear Training Exercises Chords Scales Suzy S. Before you can master an instrument like the guitar, students need to first learn the art of listening. When you can quickly recognize certain things like intervals, chords and scales, your playing ability will greatly improve. Read on for a great ear training exercise from Elk Grove, CA teacher Loren R When music students first hear of ear training, they might not understand what it means.   It sounds important and basic, but what is it? When we hear music, we know that its our ears that need to be trained, because music is only for ears, not for the eyes. We also know that hearing is not just hearing. Theres hearing and then theres knowing what were hearing. If we learn to know what were hearing well enough, we will have the skill to go to our instrument and reproduce the music, either in part, or with an arrangement that is manageable by our single effort on our instrument. We can learn to hear how to represent the various instruments in the band playing the music. When people see these skills in action they say, That musician plays well by ear. This is a high compliment among musicians. But how does one develop a good ear? One important part is simply being able to match the pitch one hears in the music to a pitch one plays on their instrument. Ask your teacher to let you give that a try if you havent done that. Many people can do that already, but dont know how to go beyond that to recognize more of the music than just the one note at a time. The trick is to find a way to play the sounds you need to learn the most. They are called chords and scales. Also, we need a few recognizable bits of melody that are common in music. I call these moves. In real music, chords, scales and moves always occur in the context of rhythmic patterns, too. Even in the music where there are lots of repetitions, and we can add even more repetitions to give ourselves a certain picture of what our ears are hearing. If we can find a way to play the most common chords, scales and melody fragments, and make direct comparisons one after another in repetition, well begin to recognize the most common elements in music. Thats ear training. Once a musician knows a good portion of the most common chord progressions, scales and moves in their favorite genre of music, theyll be ear-trained in that genre. For guitarists, the key of A is a common key to start with. Here are the chords derived from the A scale: A, Bm, C#m, D, E7, F#m and G#dim. Set yourself up to do chord comparisons by using chords that set up the key in four-square phrasing first (loops of chord changes once per measure in four measures lengths, measures being four beats on one chord). Play through the chords in the pattern youve chosen, setting the key up clearly by using lots of A, D and E7. Then have your guitar teacher help you to audition each chord by changing only one chord at the beginning of a new loop of 8 measures of the progression, beginning a new progression with just one substitution chord at the beginning of the loop. Audition chords borrowed from the parallel minor scale to find some really pretty or interesting ones. Like these: F, G, C   (borrowed from A minor). Prettier, but less common chords are the add 9 chords. They work even better, but you might need some help finding them with your teacher. Freshmen Yields At Top Colleges

Freshmen Yields At Top Colleges Elite colleges are all in competition with each other, and the one statistic they can brag about is how many high school students who received acceptance letters actually commit and attend that college. Many top colleges believe that this figure is the ultimate sign of how prestigious and respected that certain college is. This is how colleges compare themselves to one another. Harvard, Dartmouth, Cornell and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill all had more accepted high school students actually commit to them than in previous years, according to an article in The New York Times. Harvard reported about a 75% positive freshman yield, which was a slight increase from last year. Dartmouth had a 55% yield, an increase of 7%. North Carolina had a 53.3% yield, compared to last years 53.9%. However, North Carolina has not heard back from its 350, accepted, wait-listed students. The university believes its yield will increase dramatically. Cornell and the University of Pennsylvania both had similar yields, compared to last year. Cornells was at 49%, and the University of Pennsylvania was at 63%. Most of the colleges freshmen yields are expected to rise after wait-listed students are accepted. What this means for wait-listed students: Bad. These elite colleges are receiving more commitments from originally accepted students. Therefore, the enrollment for the incoming freshman class is already much higher than expected. So, colleges will not need to pull as many students from waiting lists. Harvard estimated that it will accept only 75 students from its waiting list because of higher freshmen yields. Dartmouths freshmen yield grew increased 7%, and the university stated that it might not accept any students from its waiting list.
